Transcriptions from Deakins Military Lot Surveys
Allegany & Garrett Counties, 1787 Page 1 - Lots No. 1 to 1000.
Last Update: March 20, 2011
Pursuant to an act passed in the MD General Assembley in Oct. of 1777, an Act was passed in 1787 to distribute military lots to soldiers who had fulfilled at least three years service on the American side during the Revolution. The military lots, surveyed by Francis Deakin, lay west of Cumberland, MD in what was then, Washington County, MD. The lots later lay in Allegany and Garrett Counties.
The following are transcriptions of the "juicy bits" found in the surveys of the military lots. Most surveys include little more than basic coordinates and are not included in these transcriptions. The full survey can be found on MDLandRec.net in the Allegany land plats, listed in the Military Lots Ledger.
