Beginning at a bounded White Oak standing on the side of a hill near the head of a small branch that falleth into Little Cunolloway and on the left hand side of the Main Road that goes from the said Little Cunoloway's Creek to the Old Town and near where said road crosses Conoloway's Hill..

I've included this land patent from Western Washington County because of the mention of a "Main Road" from Little Conolloway(sic) Creek to Old Town. I believe Little Conolloway Creek (In all it's spellings) is Little Tonoloway Creek and the hill is Tonoloway Ridge. The Beanes property is located on the Ridge near a branch of the creek and next to the Main Road.

What intrigues me is Capt. Thomas Cresap didn't patent "Indian Fields" until 1742 and yet the Colemore patent talks of a main road to the area. Furthermore, Fort Frederick wasn't completed until 1757 and a road from the fort to Fort Cumberland wasn't proposed until 1758 (Built in 1770).

The location of this property is problematic. Sideling Hill and Old Town are a goodly distance from each other. Unfortunately, I can find no information on Walker's Bottom to help clear things up.

Unfortunately, only one half of the original survey still exists. It reads: ...Red Oak standing on the bank of Potomack River / Mouth of Wills Creek...

Originally granted by patent on the 13th day of Nov. Anno Domini 1740 unto John Carlton for 200 acres but conveyed by said Carlton unto the aforesaid Thomas Cresap...13th day of October, 1748... I have carefully resurveyed for and in the name of Col. Thomas Cresap the aforesaid tract or parcel of land... and find that thirty eight acres thereof lie in the River & Virginia & have likewise added the vacant land thereto contiguous amounting to two hundred and fifty eight acres as appears by the pricked lines, the said land now being called Good Hope - Beginning at two bounded White Oaks standing at the foot of a hill called the Allom Hill...
